A blue grass band, the Detroit River front, amazing food, a beautiful 78 degree Michigan evening, and a perfectly in love couple equals an awesome wedding! I couldn't wait to post this up on the blog. The rattlesnake club is such an awesome venue that celebrates Detroit and the Detroit lifestyle. After interviewing Nicole about her wedding you can tell she really wanted that her guests to feel comfortable in our great city. I love that Andy's favorite memory is from when Nicole is coming up the Aisle. Thanks Nicole and Andy! What was planning the wedding like? Once we chose our venue, planning the wedding was such an incredible experience. Both of us had very vivid and distinct visions for the perfect "waterfront wedding in the D," and it was really fun incorporating elements from each of our visions to create the perfect combination and day!
Did you have plans for your wedding before or after he proposed? Did you guys plan together? No, I didn't have any "real" plans, certainly ideas; but I'm a superstitious believer in the sense that I didn't want to "plan" such a momentous occasion until it was a reality :-) And yes, shockingly, we planned our wedding together- for the most part. Early in the planning stages, Andy maintained that I could choose all of the details & elements- & then I would run ideas/thoughts etc by Andy, and turns out, he was much more opinionated than he previously thought (think-Andy HATES cascades of flowers on cakes, haha), which turned into us planning essentially everything together (which turned out to be a great "team" building skills experience).
What did you learn from the process? That wedding planning is A LOT of work!!! But also, how well we were able to implement what I like to call the 3 C's- communication, compromise and commitment that it took to achieve a common goal (making our day absolutely magical) together (also the 3 most important keys to a successful marriage-in my opinion, of course).
Favorite wedding memory? Mine: I have a couple of favorites memories-That moment right before I started my walk down the aisle, when everyone was looking at me, & the only clear face I saw in the crowd was Andy's, with the most genuine smile I have ever seen on his face. Or when I finally reached Andy at the alter and he whispered, "I love your dress!" And finally, the very end of the night, when Andy & I were dancing together in the middle of the dance floor, surrounded by all of our friends & family & just feeling so much love & happiness- perfect ending to the most perfect day!
Andy's: When he watched me walk up the aisle and he was waiting there for me at the alter.
