Union League Club Wedding Photography - Theresa & Dane

Classic, Distinguished, hopelessly romantic with elegant details galore. Theresa Gimour of Theresa Gilmour Designs put on a party to match her reputation of designing beautiful sophisticated events. I thought her simple yet elegant vows summed up the day. "I Theresa take you Dane to be my Husband. I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my life."

The Readings just sum up the day so well. Thanks so much guys and enjoy the photos! “I Like You” by Sandol Stoddard Warburg

I like you and I know why. I like you because you are a good person to like. I like you because when I tell you something special, you know it's special And you remember it a long, long time. You say, Remember when you told me something special And both of us remember

When I think something is important you think it's important too We have good ideas When I say something funny, you laugh I think I'm funny and you think I'm funny too Hah-hah! I like you because you know where I'm ticklish And you don't tickle me there except just a little tiny bit sometimes But if you do, then I know where to tickle you too You know how to be silly That's why I like you Boy are you ever silly I never met anybody sillier than me till I met you I like you because you know when it's time to stop being silly Maybe day after tomorrow Maybe never Too late, it's a quarter past silly Sometimes we don't say a word We snurkle under fences We spy secret places If I am a goofus on the roofus hollering my head off You are one too If I pretend I am drowning, you pretend you are saving me If I am getting ready to pop a paper bag, then you are getting ready to jump HOORAY

That's because you really like me You really like me, don't you And I really like you back And you like me back and I like you back And that's the way we keep on going every day

And I like you because when I am feeling sad You don't always cheer me up right away Sometimes it is better to be sad You can't stand the others being so googly and gaggly every single minute You want to think about things It takes time

I like you because if I am mad at you Then you are mad at me too It's awful when the other person isn't They are so nice and hoo-hoo you could just about punch them in the nose

I like you because if I think I am going to throw up then you are really sorry You don't just pretend you are busy looking at the birdies and all that You say, maybe it was something you ate You say, the same thing happened to me one time And the same thing did

If you find two four-leaf clovers, you give me one If I find four, I give you two If we only find three, we keep on looking Sometimes we have good luck, and sometimes we don't

If I break my arm, and if you break your arm too Then it's fun to have a broken arm I tell you about mine, you tell me about yours We are both sorry We write our names and draw pictures We show everybody and they wish they had a broken arm too

I like you because I don't know why but Everything that happens is nicer with you I can't remember when I didn't like you It must have been lonesome then

I like you because because because I forget why I like you but I do So many reasons

Even if it was the 999th of July Even if it was August Even if it was way down at the bottom of November Even if it was no place particular in January I would go on choosing you And you would go on choosing me Over and over again That's how it would happen every time I don't know why I guess I don't know why I really like you Why do I like you I guess I just like you I guess I just like you because I like you

A Lovely Love Story by Edward Monkton

The fierce Dinosaur was trapped inside his cage of ice. Although it was cold he was happy in there. It was, after all, his cage.

Then along came the Lovely Other Dinosaur. The Lovely Other Dinosaur melted the Dinosaur's cage with kind words and loving thoughts.

I like this Dinosaur, thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur. Although he is fierce he is also tender and he is funny. He is also quite clever although I will not tell him this for now.

I like this Lovely Other Dinosaur, thought the Dinosaur. She is beautiful and she is different and she smells so nice. She is also a free spirit which is a quality I much admire in a Dinosaur.

But he can be so distant and so peculiar at times, thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur. He is also overly fond of things. Are all Dinosaurs so overly fond of things?

But her mind skips from here to there so quickly, thought the Dinosaur. She is also uncommonly keen on shopping. Are all Lovely Other Dinosaurs so uncommonly keen on shopping?

I will forgive his peculiarity and his concern for things, thought the Lovely Other Dinosaur. For they are part of what make him a richly charactered individual. I will forgive her skipping mind and her fondness for shopping, thought the Dinosaur. For she fills our life with beautiful thought and wonderful surprises. Besides, I am not unkeen on shopping either.

Now the Dinosaur and Lovely Other Dinosaur are old. Look at them. Together they stand on the hill telling each other stories and feeling the warmth of the sun on their backs. And that, my friends, is how it is with love. Let us all be Dinosaurs and Lovely Other Dinosaurs together. For the sun is warm. And the world is a beautiful place.

Castle Farms Wedding Photography - Charlevoix - Laura & Luke

Awesome wedding! Super fun sweet couple. They got married in Charlevoix at the beautiful Castle Farms in April. It was the classic Michigan weekend earlier this year where we got rain, snow, sleet, sun and clouds all in one day in Detroit. A little farther North in Charlevoix there was a gorgeous peaceful snowfall the night of the rehearsal dinner and a cold blustery snowy Saturday for the Wedding. Thankfully, both their ceremony and reception were inside in a Gorgeous vaulted ceiling Castle. Quite a setting. Thanks so much guys for the great weekend. Enjoy the photos! The lighting during the ceremony was just perfect and they had a great time trying to get the vows out.

What an amazing property!

Tallulah Townsend Wedding Photography - Dan & Natasha

Dan and Natasha had a lovely candlelit winter wedding this year at the Troy Historic Village Chapel. Following the ceremony they had a small gathering of immediate family at Tallulah Too and the next evening a larger gathering for friends and extended family at the Townsend. I'm sure it was a dream weekend for the couple and you could tell they enjoyed every minute. Ceremony: Troy Historic Village Reception: Tallulah, The Townsend

Did I mention Dan is Italian?

Midway through there was a rash of jumpers.

Detroit Wedding Photography - Paulette & Anthony

Some of my favorite clients of the year - Paulette and Anthony. I nicknamed Paulette "tabbipau" because that is the start of her email address, and I think she has adopted it. They love to laugh and are just so in love.Their love and emotion just overflows in the images.

Blaine: When did you guys Meet?

Paulette: At a friends birthday party. He was 17 and I was 15. He went to Delasalle and I went to Regina.

Blaine: How did he Propose?

Paulette: Anthony proposed after we ran the turkey trot on thanksgiving day at Campus Martius in front of the big Christmas tree.

Blaine: Did you know he was going to?

Paulette:It was a very big surprise I always thought we'd be out to dinner or something along those lines. He did a great job surprising me.

Blaine:What was most exciting about the wedding day to you?

Paulette: Walking down the aisle to meet anthony. It was the best feeling in the world.

Blaine: Favorite wedding memory?

Paulette: Celebrating with all my family and friends. It was exactly what we wanted. :)

Help - Photographer in Need - Detroit Wedding Photography

This Fall one of our colleagues in the Detroit wedding photography industry fell ill for the 2nd time with Cancer. She had almost 15 weddings left in the season and on the most amazing things I've seen in the industry happened. All of her weddings were picked up by local photographers for free while Dionne dived into chemo and radiation. They all shot the events at their own cost to help Dionne and encourage her. We got the opportunity to photograph Lindsay and James. They were the sweetest couple and we had a great day. If you feel compelled and want to help out Dionne you can donate to her through a website called Donations for Dionne.

Here are a few of the images from Lindsay and James beautiful wedding.

Lindsays brother did a special graffiti mural on their Dad's taxi company wall.

West Bloomfield Wedding Photography - Ned & Megan

Coordination: Pat BlackwellCeremony: Temple Beth El Reception: Tam Flowers: Breath of Spring (Bruce) Band: Simone

A toast by the Groom Ned Specktor:

"I’d like to take you all back, to a night that changed my life, A simple dinner with friends, but one that would lead me to my wife.

Adi and Deena were eating, and I looked up from my plate, I simply asked both of them, if they had any friends I could date?

I tried to play it cool, couldn’t come off like I was beggin… Then Adi said I’ve got it, you have to meet Megan!

Their minds were made up, I could see it on their faces, They gave me their approval and her number, and we were off to the races.

With my work trip now over, I sat at the airport all alone, I wanted to call Megan, but couldn't find her number in my phone!

It was now late at night, and dating rules I’d have to bend, So I “requested” Megan Wolf, to be my Facebook friend.

She finally accepted, and we entered the first stage, And now it was time to study, the pictures on her profile page.

This girl was a beauty, I was lucky let’s face it, Then she sent a message with her number, and said “this time don’t erase it!”

Oooh touché, this girl was worth the wait, Sushi Roku was confirmed, it would be our first date.

I will never forget the moment, when she walked out the door, I had never seen Joe’s Jeans, worn like that before!

From the moment we met, there was an instant connection, But it would take more than crab hand rolls, to win this girls’ affection!

It was on our third date, we hit the Grove for some fun, I looked up from my plate, and realized this girl was the one.

The love bug had struck, and we were both bitten, I was falling in love, with this girl from the mitten.

Every time we had a date, neither of us wanted to leave, And we decided two weeks in, I’d go to Michigan for New Year’s Eve!

That was it, I had said it, there was no turning back, We booked our Delta exit rows, it was time to meet the Wolf Pack!

New Year’s Eve rolled around, it was finally the day, I grabbed my Williams Sonoma gift basket, and was well on my way!

Thankfully all was smooth, I sounded no family alarms, There was shrimp cocktail waiting, and I was welcomed with open arms.

Scotty, Matt, and Steve, took me golfing at Tam, The Wolf’s wasted no time, making me feel a part of their fam.

Everything was smooth, it seemed to be the perfect day, Until Steve told me that night, in “the dollhouse” is where I’d stay…

It was clear this was a topic, not to be discussed anymore, So I kissed Megan goodnight, and climbed the stairs to the third floor.

The trip was a success, and I kissed Megan on her punim. I was leaving Detroit, having met my machatunim.

Holidays and birthdays, we were on a dating whirl, I had fallen in love with this Michigan girl.

But every time I tried to say it, I fumbled and got hot, So instead I just kept saying, I really like you a lot!

Jason Mraz came to the rescue, with his lyrics he would lend, “Lucky,” started playing, and I said I was in love with my best friend.

It was exactly how I felt, and still do to this day, I married my best friend, and I love her in every way.

When she said I love you too, it made my heart sing, And then the search began, for an emerald cut diamond ring.

I was deep into research, on my covert mission, This was bigger than Shark Week, I was diamond ring fishin!

I searched high and low, and this was no small feat, I was trying to do the math, on how I’d buy this ring and still eat.

I finally reached the end, and had seen all the other ones, And there the perfect stone sat, at Wachler and Son’s.

December 2nd was the night, that our stars would align, We’d go back to the Grove, to cross our engagement finish line.

It was all set up, all we had to do was go, Then the clock struck 8, and it began to snow.

We stood on the bridge, and then I took a knee, I told her that I loved her, and said will you marry me?

She said yes and we did it, our hearts both soared! Then a trolley pulled up, with both of our families on board.

It was a magical night, with my new fiancé, September 29th would be our date, we were 9 months away.

But there was so much to do, before the guests would throw rice, So every night we prayed to G-d, and also to Mindy Weiss.

Enter this power duo, we’ll first start with Ilene, Planning a wedding for Megan, while making college plans for the Bean.

Sometimes moving so fast, all you could see was blonde hair, Speeding through the streets Birmingham, Ilene Wolf was on a tear!

Working overtime, but all her targets she was hitting, Even taking redeye flights, to make it to Megan’s first dress fitting.

With a million meetings, notes, and calls, and sometimes staying up all night, Three post offices she hit, to make sure the invitations were mailed out right!

Ilene was hard at work, but never would she boast, While Megan was working just as hard, on the sunny west coast.

Megan was focused, and planning on the run, I made one simple request, and that was to shoot the registry gun.

She would return home from her errands, her forehead a little damp, I would say things like yes baby, I love that pink stamp!

There was so much to do, before this big day, Like stock up on Nambe, and every color of Le Crouset!

Please don’t get me wrong, none of this was bad, I’m just excited to cook my eggs, on Non-Stick All Clad!

Macy’s, Williams Sonoma, and Bloomingdales to name a few, Chances are if you walk into ANY store, we are registered there too.

No matter what it was, Megan knew where she should be, While I was on our rooftop, doing Insanity workouts with Shaun T!

Megan flew across the country, she had magic wedding planning wings, While I was cleaning up the gift boxes, with all those little styrofoam peanut things!

We went through 4 travel agents, I guess they come in bunches, We booked our huts in Bora Bora, but we’ll be brining bag lunches!

My home office has filled up, with all our wedding cargo, If you’re still looking for a gift, we’re now registered at Wells Fargo!

Megan with all of this time planning, you may have to wait for your raise, And that’s because your boss Jen, let you take about 61 vacation days! Thanks Jen!

But Megan and Ilene, thank you so much for all you do, And for making this weekend, an absolute dream come true.

Scotty and Matt I know it’s awkward, every time I kiss her, But my promise to you, is that I will take great care of your sister.

To my sister Lindsey, you define, the role of big sis, You are ALWAYS there for me, and there is nothing you would miss.

A special mention to Brian Schumer, who is at home with Sawyer, He is reading him baby books, on how to become doctor or a lawyer.

Polly please know, for you there is nothing I won’t do, And as your big brother, I will always be there for you.

I love the memories we’ve made, and plenty more that we’ll be sharin’ And it makes me so happy, that you’re so happy with Aaron.

Mom and Dad you are the best, there is so much I could say, You have raised to the man, that I have become today.

Dad you are my hero, to me you are the king, You taught me life’s biggest secret….always do the right thing.

Mom I look at you, as a mother above the rest, You have a special gift…you always know what’s best.

Everyone in this room, holds a special place in my life, But the most important person is you, my best friend and my wife.

Can you believe it, we did it, just look around the room, Let’s soak this in for a second, just as bride and groom.

You look like a queen, dressed in your white gown, Your Dodi and my Grams, are smiling together looking down.

What an awesome moment, when we both said “I do,” Megan I thank G-d, that he blessed me with you.

I have big plans for us, we'll fly across the globe, And wherever we go, we'll bring your white robe.

I promise to love you, with all of my might, I promise to always kiss, your forehead goodnight.

I promise to try hard, to be the best husband and your guide, We will laugh and cry together, I’ll always treat you as my bride.

We’ll be together forever, not a moment I want to miss, I love pulling your nose close, so I can steal a kiss.

There is nothing I love more, than seeing you smile. And I will never forget the moment, when you walked down that aisle.

Megan you’re the one, a cut above the rest, Thank you so much for accepting, my Facebook friend request.

There’s just one more thing to say, and it’s because I am the groom, Steve tomorrow night in your house, I will be sleeping in Megan’s room!

Megan I love you, I am your rock and your protector, Please raise your glass for my wife, Mrs. Megan Specktor!

The party was Madness Crazy fun. I haven't seen people party like this ever.

Detroit Wedding Photography - Lauren + Steve

Steve and I met through eHarmony. We were one of the last matches sent to each of us. In fact, both our subscriptions had ended before we met. We called eHarmony prior to our first date to tell the site how much we disliked it. We both told eHarmony we would never join again because each day they would send us too many matches. The site claimed to be selective, but it wasn't. We would receive five to ten people per day. Our first date was on June 17, 2010, and fortunately for us, the last match ended up working out. Steve proposed one year to the day from when he first told me he loved me. That was on September 30th. This is also the day we got married. So he told me he loved me for the first time on September 30, 2010, we got engaged on September 30, 2011, and married on September 30, 2012. He proposed in the home he had purchased that week. It was a complete surprise to me, as he had told me we were going to dinner with my mom to celebrate his closing on the house. On that day, Steve called to say the contractor wanted us to measure for closets. It had to be done before dinner. This is when he surprised me, at his house, with the proposal. Afterwards, we went for dinner with our families to celebrate our engagement; this was another surprise for me.

The most exciting part about our wedding day was just seeing it all come together. We put in a lot of time and effort to make sure the day went as well as possible, and I really think it did. We were happy to have 100% attendance. We received many compliments on how personal the ceremony was, on the quality of the food, and on the beauty of the venue/floral arrangements.

Our favorite wedding memory was the ceremony. Steve and I worked together on writing the ceremony, from the introduction, to the vows, to the explanation of Jewish traditions. In the end, it turned out to be really meaningful because it reflected who we were as a couple.

The Inn at St.Johns Wedding Photography - Laura & Michael

OMG Laura and Michael must be on of my happiest couples. My cheeks were sore after this wedding because we basically laughed all day. Laura and Michael just had the best time I think and it was such a pleasure to be around them all day. Easy going, and light hearted, I think it just made the day so fun for them and us. It was all smiles until the ceremony when Michael lost it and tears started coming down his cheeks though. Come to find out at the speeches which were hilarious Michael is a pretty big softie when it comes to the important things in life. It was an awesome wedding and I'm thankful I was able to be there to shoot for them. Thanks guys! Flower and Design: Flourish Events Ceremony & Reception: The Inn at St. Johns

Lisa and I both are suckers for density and reflections. Just so much to look at here. The color pallate is so rich and unpredictable in every region of the frame too. Michelle Papenheim did the make up - awesome job btw too! http://www.michelesbeauty.com/

Everyone was in stitches over the speech. They loved it!!

Westin Book Cadillac Wedding Photography Marisa + David

A little Q and A to start out this amazing wedding! A must see! So Gorgeous! B: How did you and David Meet? M: David and I met July of 2008 at a funeral in Salt Lake City Utah. It was a funeral for one of his cousin's who also happened to be one of my mom's best friends for the last 40 years. She had cancer. Thats why on our menu card we did a donation in her honor in leiu of a favor. We feel she really did bring us together...she loved both of us!

B: Where did David Propose: M:David proposed at our favorite place....Lake Charlevoix in northern Michigan. It was a beautiful summer day and we were having a lazy Sunday on the water. We were in the backyard of my father-in-law's home on the lake and we were down by the beach. The beach is all rocks and David was teaching my how to skip rocks on the water. He explained how you have to have a thin, flat rock so it glides. So, I was bent down searching in the rocks for a perfect rock to skip, and he knelt down in front of me with an engagement "rock" and asked how I'd like this rock and if I would marry him!

Blaine: Did you Know? M:I had an idea that he was going to propose at some point in the near future but had no idea it would be that weekend. We had actually gone up there to celebrate his 30th birthday, which was the following week.

Blaine: Fav wedding moment? M:Gosh it's so hard to pick a favorite moment of the wedding day! I loved EVERY moment more than the next! Everything was so perfect!! I'd have to say a couple of my favorite moments were when I first walked out to start down the aisle and saw David standing up there teary eyed, exchanging our vows, and when both David and I jumped into the crown and went crowd surfing during Van Halen's song JUMP performed amazingly by The Mega 80's!

Royal Park Hotel Wedding Photography - Nicole & Joel

What a great party to shoot! Nicole and Joel gave me some amazing artistic liberty to create some just beautiful images from their party. It was a beautiful, classic, dreamy wedding day that all took place at the Royal Park Hotel this July. Months before the wedding Nicole told me that she loves Black and white and wanted romantic soft images from her wedding. Nicole who is a journalistic by trade and has done editorials for the likes of Rolling stone had to have just great documentary photography for her party and also wanted to have an amazing band. I had a great time shooting for her and also just loved shooting the party. Fifty Amp Fuse who is absolutely not a wedding band in the traditional sense COMPLETELY ROCKED this wedding planing van Morrison, Clapton, The Stones, Aerosmith, Petty, Paul Simon and The Who. It was awesome. See photos below:) Thanks again Guys!
